A couple of posts have recently brought on the blog recently about the deceptive trade practices of Electricity DISCOMs in Haryana. The  post was uploaded in this blog by the author for wilful gross violations of the Regulations of Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission mandated as per provisions laid in the Electricity Act. These Regulations including approved tariff structures are binding onto the DISCOMs.  The issues of gross violations as identified in the post were proposed to be intimated to the Regulator i.e Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) for appropriate intervention. The violations have been brought to the perusal of HERC for taking appropriate action through an email dtd. 22nd July 2020 and 30th July 2020. Subsequent to the publishing of two articles in this blog on "Misappropriation of Consumers money- A scam by Flipkart (?) , the attention of the Department of Consumer Affairs, Govt of India has also been drawn on the subject for appropriate action through an email on 13/07/2020. A copy of the same is uploaded in this blog. Flipkart Internet Private Ltd. started its operation in India as e-commerce market place in October, 2007 and as per information available on its website has 80 million products across 80+ categories. It further states having 100 million registered users, 8 million shipments per month, 100 thousands sellers and 21 state-of-the-art warehouses. The unfair business practices of these retailers are being derived out of charging taxes on the discounted sale price. The discounted sale price after factoring with the discount rate become revised MRP and hence charging of any tax on the MRP is unfair trade practices. Goods and Service Tax (GST) has been implemented in India w.e.f 1st July 2017 with much fanfare. One of the key point as highlighted by Prime Minister of India is that it will result into reduction in the prices to the consumers. With the newspaper reports the dream was becoming true when the automobile industries came up with the substantial reduction in the prices of high end luxury car. Our Prime Minister in his talk "mann ki baat" referred to a letter from a poor person stating that due to implementation of GST in the country has resulted cost reduction to make it affordable to ordinary person. Yes it is true that the car prices of high end models have come down due to GST. Is it really true for daily needs of ordinary citizens. One of the daily need is the consumption of food items.
