An appeal to Indian Railways to withdraw deduction of cancellation fee from wait listed tickets!

An appeal to Indian Railways to withdraw deduction of cancellation fee from wait listed tickets! Cancellation fee from wait listed passengers As per Railway Rules for refund of wait listed tickets which could not be confirmed till preparation of chart:    1. Ticket need to be presented for cancellation half an hour before scheduled departure of train   2. An amount of Rs. 60/- shall be deducted towards clerkage charges which prior to 12.11.2015 was Rs. 30/- Both these rules seem to be anti-consumer. First of all when it is wait listed, why half an hour prior to the departure of train should be stipulated. In case of hard copy of ticket the intending person looks to be penalized as the confirmation or otherwise is known at the time of preparation of chart which in most of the cases is 2-3 hours prior to scheduled departure of train and the person had to rush for its refund and then if the intended person reaches in time, another amount of Rs. 60/- gets d...

Why Indian Railways considering charging of insurance premium from passengers?

Why Indian Railways considering charging of insurance premium from passengers? It seems Indian Railways is considering introduction of a nominal fee for covering the risks against accidents and luggage. If we look at the past statistics, most of the accidents and stealing of luggage of passengers is due to the inefficiency of the railways. To an estimate, more than 80% of the accidents are occuring because of human failure. Similar is the view about luggage being stolen. The railways need to ensure that the travel by unathorised passengers (main cause of the stealing of luggage) do not travel in the reserved coaches. TTE has been failing in their duties to check on such lapses, the prominent being from the angle of corruption. Number of supporters of the present Government are making grounds for charging of nominal fee of Rs. 2/- per passenger as insurance premium to cover for such risks. Now the question comes as to why the passenger be made to pay for insurance premium. I...

Do we really dreaming India to be world class country with Bullet Train in the network of Indian Railway system? It seems to be a million dollar question. Our Government popularly known as Modi Sarkar headed by Hon'ble Shri Narendra Damadordas Modi as Prime Minister is dedicating himself to make world class cities in India. I do not know whether it is a political dream or is an actual dedication. I have a chance to visit New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) on 10th July 2014 and wanted to reach platform No. 2 from Ajmeri Gate side by using escalator being unable to walk through staircase. There have been certain observation which I thought to write them over here: 1. The scanner checking for luggage: It was working. Two police men were sitting to monitor but seen gossiping. Surprised to note that the monitor through which scanning was being monitored was lying switched off. Tried to take snap but the policemen preferred to hide from the camera. 2. Escalators installed at Ajm...
