Govt. of India informed about Alleged malpractices by M/s. Flipkart India Private Limited in misappropriating consumers money/ unethical business practices during Corona Pandemic

Subsequent to the publishing of two articles in this blog on "Misappropriation of Consumers money- A scam by Flipkart (?), the attention of the Department of Consumer Affairs, Govt of India has also been drawn on the subject for appropriate action through an email on 13/07/2020. A copy of the same is uploaded in this blog. The consumers whosoever have been facing issues with Flipkart may also write directly to the Department of Consumers Affairs on their email ids.

M/s Flipkart India Pvt Ltd is in the business of online selling of products through their website www.flipkart.com The products offered range from domestic items like garments, daily use items, groceries,  furniture items, electronic and electrical products, parts and accessories, and a lot many other categories of items, etc. etc.

India like any other country in the world has been facing pandemic due to Corona Virus. Govt. of India had to declare lockdown across the country. The essential services to the need for human consumption for their survival only were allowed to continue in its entire phases of lockdown during March and April 2020. The unlocking the lockdown was also done in a phased manner in May/June 2020 and is still continuing. Many services locked are still to be unlocked and that reflects the severity of the pandemic.  It has affected the entire population of the country with a complete slow down of the economy including unemployment of the citizens whether employment or self-employment or small businesses. While the citizens were facing economical setbacks, certain businesses like Flipkart has been taking pandemic as blessings in disguise.

During the corona pandemic, the Flipkart India has allegedly  started duping the consumers who were shopping online and misappropriating the money collected from the consumers by offering unbelievable discounts, retaining it for the in-appropriate period, canceling the orders subsequently  either on its own or compelling the consumers to cancel the orders and advising consumers to place another order without adjusting the amount already paid by the consumers, or supplying defective or wrong products, not providing the contractual services like installation of the equipment and inordinate delays in making refunds. The consumers having no other option placing the order for alternate items and again making the payment and surprisingly the new/fresh orders again getting canceled.

Consumers were either being mislead on the despatch of the ordered products or informing consumers reaching to nearby locations of the consumers and all of a sudden either the consumers were advised to cancel the order or the Flipkart on its own canceling the order on some pretext.  In one of the cases which came to the notice was that the consumer is informed of the packing and despatch of the ordered product informing the consumer that the product has been despatched through Blue Dart Courier vide some docket number. The consumer was being continuously updated for about months about reaching of the ordered products or reaching the same at various intermediary stages including some location near to his destination. However, all of a sudden, the order was canceled. The consumer took up the matter with Blue Dart and was shocked to know that the Flipkart never provided the product for its delivery to Blue Dart.  He had confirmation from Blue Dart in this regard.
