Unethical business practices by telecom service providers in life time validity plans subscribed by pre-paid category of mobile users

Unethical business practices by telecom service providers in life time validity plans subscribed by prepaid category of mobile subscribers        The telecom service providers had launched a scheme “life time validity” plans for mobile subscribers wherein the mobile users were being offered free incoming calls for which no recharge for its validity was required against one time charge. It was ranging from various amounts varying from company to company, the most prominent being Rs. 999/-. These plans were announced by telecom companies more than a decade back. The subscribers were required to recharge with talk time value recharge vouchers if the subscribers wish to use mobile for outgoing calls. While some companies like MTNL had a condition in the post paid category to use the connection for a minimum of Rs. 100/- in three months period and if the value of the consumption was less than Rs. 100/- in a quarter, the left over amount was being unused out of Rs. 100/- and

Why not we consider to dispense with web check-in facility till the time Airlines withdraw the fee for web check-in

Why not we consider to dispense with web check-in facility till the time Airlines withdraw the fee for web check-in Indigo recently had come out with charging of fee from the passengers who use their web check in facility. This fee could be even as high as Rs. 600/- per passenger. It is understood Spice jet is following the suit and with such latest move of Indigo Airlines to charge fee for web check-in, the stage is being set by other Airlines to follow.  The web check in to a great extent is a relief onto the Airlines through which the Airlines can reduce their work load at the counters and in a good business sense, the cost reduction through such check-in should ideally be passed onto the passengers to encourage them to use web check-in facility. Instead of offering any discount to the passengers, the Indigo Airlines have imposed cost on the passengers if they check-in themselves. As such such fee being charged by the Airline become unethical business practices and need t

GST Profiteering- Is National Anti-Profiteering Authority an eye-wash or dedicated efforts Couple of articles on the subject have been posted in this blog. One such article of relevance was written on 25th May 2018 with title as: National Anti-Profiteering Authority- Is it really effective in handling complaints of profiteering https://skvirmani-jagograhak.blogspot.com/2018/05/national-anti-profiteering-authority-is.html There have been number of posts alleging profiteering by the industry post implementation of GST. I had also initially brought out a case where the restaurant had adopted to profiteering on the pretext of GST whereas the GST should have reduced the prices by around 10%. on the contrary, the restaurant had increased the prices by about 40 to 50% just immediately after GST. The reason of increase in prices just next day of GST implementation was cited as GST. No action has been taken by the National Anti-Profiteering Authority.   It is also a fact that the ca

Shocking Incident out of Judicial Adjudication Process of Child Custody Time to review the policy of child custody. A news report appearing in Navbharat Times dtd. 21/10/2018 is being referred here which indicates the need of judicial review that is required in case of domestic violence cases as well as maintenance and divorce cases. The newspaper report brings out a story where the child named Mayank aged 11 years old has died due to inadequate care by his mother and was being kept in a locked room and was being tortured by his mother. Ultimately the child was thrown out of the house on 12th October 2018 without any food and clothings. Ultimately the child who was taken to a hospital by the neighborhood could not be saved and died. Is it not amounting to murder and should the judicial authorities not review the policy being adapted for the custody of the child on legal separation of the parents. The women are filing cases for domestic violence on the entire family even

Could there be possibility of corruption involved in appointments of Senior Residents in Medical Hospitals in Delhi

Could there be possibility of corruption involved in appointments of Senior Residents in Medical Hospitals in Delhi While all of us do talk on corruption, poor medical facilities, expensive medical treatment etc., there is another area which possibly is being ignored is the appointment of medical fraternity to serve the Government Hospitals specially in Delhi. While the Government of Delhi seems to be working very hard for improving medical services in Delhi, it seems to be either ignoring the possibility of corruption in the appointments of the Doctors in the Hospitals or not addressing the issue if known to the authorities. The present AAP-led Delhi government came to power, hinging primarily on their promise to end corruption, bring in transparency in government functioning and thus change the way of politics. “Hum Rajneeti badalne aaye hain” was one of the popular slogans of the time. Healthcare initiatives have so far included free medicines and tests, reigning in p

National Anti-profiteering Authority - is it really effective in handling complaints of profiteering   An article titled "Restaurant Industry- Whether GST leading to Profiteering" was published in this blog on 8th August 2017, the url of which is http://skvirmani-jagograhak.blogspot.in/2017/08/restaurant-industry-whether-gst-leading.html The article was mailed to the National Anti-profiteering Authority as well as the same was also brought to their attention through social media of Local Circle Community. It seems no action has been taken as the Le-Chef Restaurant not only continuing the business of profiteering after implementation of GST but also now adapting to unethical business practices. As analyzed in my article on 8th August 2017 in this blog, it was substantiated that the Restaurant in the name of GST, has increased the prices of various commodities as high as 39%. This increase in the prices despite reduction in the impact of the taxes, amounts to an

Petition- Airlines must charge only 20 percent of the airfare as cancellation charges

An article titled " Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) need to intervene and frame out policy on cancellation fee chargeable by the Airlines and to withdraw the practice of charging for preferential seat allocation"  was published in this blog on 13/03/2018. The link to the article is http://skvirmani-jagograhak.blogspot.in/2018/03/director-general-of-civil-aviation-dgca.html Subsequent to the article, the same was posted to DGCA. A petition has also been created titled "Airlines must charge only 20 pct of ticket value as cancellation charges ". It is felt that we jointly have to raise our voice so that Govt. of India is compelled to intervene and frame a policy to restrict the cancellation fee not more than 20% of the air fare. The link to the petition is: http://bit.ly/rationalise-airticketcancellationcharges The citizens may like to contribute to the social justice as the issue is of public interest.
